Myspace Layout Disappearing Background Color Fix

If you are asking yourself “What happened to my Myspace Background in my Profile?”

HERE IS THE OFFICIAL SCOOP:

Note: If your background uses a “Tiled Image’ this will not effect you 🙂

———————–

Some time in the last 24 hours or so myspace made a change to their code that got rid of all of the custom background colors on myspace profiles. This affected not just cleanupmyspace.com, but every layout site around.

Early this morning we saw this and sprang into action!

It took a little while to track this down, but we did, and the solution is a quick fix.

I’ll give you a quick explanation below, but rest assured all of OUR layouts have ALREADY BEEN FIXED!!!

That’s right, so if you have having problems with a myspace layout you got from us, or (heaven forbid!) another site, just go grab our layout code and paste it in. You will be good to go in seconds!

So here’s the deal, myspace.com has added a class to their page called “.bodyContent” that they are using to control the appearance of the body. Note the “.” before it and the capital “C”, that’s important. Usually this is done simply by styling the body tag, but by using this class, they have overwritten the body tag styles that most everyone is using to change the appearance of their site.

So, for all you “i-wanna-make-my-own-dern-myspace-layout-ers” out there, all you need to do is to style the .bodyContent tag exactly the same way you were styling the body tag.

Cleanupmyspace.com recommends leaving the old body tag code in there, so that if they undo this change, everything will still work! Here’s an example:

If your old body tag style looked like this:

body{
background-color:rgb(255,0,153);
background-image:url(‘my_image.jpg’);
background-position:center center;
background-repeat:no-repeat;
background-attachment:fixed;
}

Just add a new style below with the same information for “.bodyContent.”
Now it should look like this:

body{
background-color:rgb(255,0,153);
background-image:url(‘my_image.jpg’);
background-position:center center;
background-repeat:no-repeat;
background-attachment:fixed;
}

.bodyContent{
background-color:rgb(255,0,153);
background-image:url(‘my_image.jpg’);
background-position:center center;
background-repeat:no-repeat;
background-attachment:fixed;
}

Even though myspace.com only overwrote the background-color this time, Cleanupmyspace.com recommends doing this for all of your body style attributes (as above). That way another change like this in the future won’t cause you any problems.

Good Luck!!!
